The University of Glasgow is placed at number 4 as the oldest university in the entirety of all English-speaking world. It was founded in 1452 and is also one of four ancient universities in Scotland. This university is offering the MRes in Human Geography scholarships at University of Glasgow in which both home/EU as well as overseas students are all eligible to apply. This funding will be awarded to students who choose the field of Human Geography for pursuing MRes program. There are up to 4 scholarships available in total. Note that, this funding is acknowledge by the university to go £5,000 further to fund the fees of Home or EU students than it will to go for the overseas students.
Should you show interest for this scholarship, please make su re you fulfil all the following entrance requirements in order to be considered:
- Candidates must’ve graduated or will have graduated by the end of June 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Geography or any of its equivalent subject such as Anthropology, Environmental Studies or Science, Sociology, History, Political Science or Cultural Studies. Students must also have secured or will secure a first class degree classification. Add to that make sure there is legal reason as to why you can’t be resident in the UK to pursue higher education.
- In the event of English not being your first language, please provide evidence that your English language ability is at a high enough level in order to succeed in your studies.
The closing date for the MRes in Human Geography scholarships at University of Glasgow is on June 22, 2018 and no late nor incomplete application will be considered. Please note that, this scholarship program is competitive and will be awarded based in part on student performance in bachelor’s degree programs and therefore the university cannot make decisions until July when they receive enough information about the candidates’ degree performance.
Candidates who want to be considered for the basic £5,000 funding, then simply go through the normal application process through the University of Glasgow Taught Postgraduate online application system. Make sure applications as well as transcripts and references arrive by the due date.
Should you be interested in the second option where one of the 3 x £5,000 funding tagged as SEC-facing, then students must not only make the normal online application but also submit via email an MRes dissertation proposal on a form designed for this scholarship (must be 3 pages long) to Professor Chris Philo at Christopher.Philo@glasgow.ac.uk on the same due date. Students must also fill in the form for this scholarship here.
On Wednesday, July 25th 2018, the university will review all the applications submitted and make the deadline for decisions on the allocation of scholarships with the purpose of notifying all candidates with three outcomes, namely: successful, possibly ‘reserves’ and unsuccessful.
